Drillmech proved to be an ever reliable contractor for Austral Construction as part of our East Intercourse Island Stacker replacement project for our client, Rio Tinto. Throughout the course of the works, the program frequently changed due to Rio Tinto operations shut down requirements and other contractor works delays and advancements. Although challenging at times, Drillmech were able to deliver their steel fabrication contract despite tight scheduling deadlines , schedule changes, late design changes and even additional non-scoped work which was not part of their original package. The quality of the fabrication and accuracy to design was perfect with no non compliances recorded and no adjustments required for in-situ installation of all steel ancillaries. Drillmech’s attention to detail is also noted by Austral , with design issues picked up early, which was then raised by Austral to the client and saving our client considerable sums of remediation works costs and of course lost time before fabrication had commenced. The management team of Drillmech have shown a proactive approach toward project issues and resilience in getting the job done, no matter what the obstacle. Their open communication and availability to Austral at any time was much appreciated. In closing out the project works, Drillmech delivered a thorough and quality MDR package which Austral and Rio Tinto accepted on first pass.
